The founder
Stefan Brandt studied physics in Göttingen and earned his doctorate in materials science from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart. His great passion for fashion and the finest natural fibers eventually led him to South America.
In 2001, he founded his own clothing manufacturing company in Quito, Ecuador. Since then, he has been working on exceptional jersey collections and developing groundbreaking processes. Using this groundbreaking process, Stefan Brandt successfully brings out the "South American silk" naturally found in super-fine Stefan Brandt Sea Island® cotton step by step. The result is a luxurious cotton jersey that gives our products tangible and measurable unique features, including ultimate natural elasticity and shape retention, as well as a luxurious look and feel similar to silk and cashmere. Added to this are unique care qualities, such as being suitable for tumble drying and colorfast at 60°C. The fabric is also hypoallergenic, making it suitable for allergy sufferers.
Excellence in Tailoring
Stefan Brandt's dedication to meticulous craftsmanship is reflected in the use of elaborate hand-stitching techniques, some of which are true innovations in jersey apparel. Previously known only in custom tailoring, the layers of fabric are basted together by hand before sewing. This intricate technique ensures a precise fit and a flawless drape. Many tailoring details that are normally done by machine are consistently sewn by hand at Stefan Brandt. These steps take a great deal of time, but they are essential for achieving the highest level of precision in cut and finish, true to Stefan Brandt's guiding principle: "there are no shortcuts to excellence."
