Quality advantage

A new era of wearing comfort

The brand Stefan Brandt represents the finest jersey collections for men and women in a series of cotton jersey designs whose qualities are unrivaled worldwide.

The founder, Dr. Stefan Brandt, has been working on the development of new process technologies since 1992. In 2012, he achieved a breakthrough, resulting in unique cotton fabrics that give his products tactile and measurable unique selling points. Today, his innovations are considered groundbreaking in the fashion industry today.

In 2015, Stefan Brandt sets another milestone. He succeeds in processing selected bales of Peruvian ELS Pima cotton ("selected Pima") in an innovative process route for the first time.
The luxurious cotton fabric is then brought to perfection using mainly manual techniques and a revolutionary "15-step PREFIT treatment". This succeeds in gradually bringing out the "South American silk" inherent in the super-fine cotton.

The combination of selected raw materials of unrivaled quality and radical production innovations enable Stefan Brandt to take the quality of his jersey garments from the extraordinary to the superlative. Pioneering companies in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria speak of a new era of wearing comfort.

Unique selling points

Using the most valuable raw materials available on the market, Stefan Brandt manages optimally coordinated process routes. These are complemented by elaborate "in-house" techniques and guarantee wear and care properties of a quality never seen before.

Another of Stefan Brandt's novelties is the successful application of hand-stitching techniques (*picking) to jersey shirts and polos, which were previously the preserve of made-to-measure clothing.

Unique selling points "knitted fabric

The exceptional quality features of our knitted fabrics are based on the following pillars:

  • Selective manual "ELS" Pima cotton picking: Unripe and overripe fibres are NOT picked.
  • Innovative process routes: Innovative techniques are used from selection in the cotton harvest to knitted fabric production and finishing of the knitted fabric in 2 countries (Peru + Ecuador).
  • "PREFIT treatment": With water, steam and heat, without chemical additives; in a closed system at over 100°C. This gives the knitted fabrics further material characteristics that have never been achieved before.
  • Highest quality Colouring and additives
  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification. The substances used are listed in the bluesign®bluefinder for sustainable textile production and also support the OEKO-TEX®Standard 100, Cradle to Cradle®(EPEA) and the EU Ecolabel.

The (gentle) processes used and the PREFIT treatment can be described as a "15-step process", which involves high losses in raw material and production capacity. The high effort is the guarantee for uncompromising quality and the following unique selling points:

  • Maximum inherent elasticity and dimensional stability
  • Tumble dryer suitability (even at the highest temperatures of 90°C)
  • Colour fastness even at temperatures of 60°C
  • Super soft feel (similar to silk / cashmere)
  • Super silky look (surface resembles pure silk)
  • Crease-resistant (practically non-iron due to the large staple length of ELS cotton "selected")
  • Human-ecologically optimised knitted fabric (suitable for allergy sufferers)

Unique selling propositions: Design and confection

Stefan Brandt's style is a tribute to the materials used and the precision craftsmanship in manufacturing. Stefan Brandt's maxim is to produce the perfect product regardless of cost. This is also reflected in the use of elaborate hand-stitching techniques, some of which(*) are innovations in the jersey sector and set new standards in ready-to-wear quality:

(*) Pricking: Previously only known from made-to-measure clothing, this technique is standard at Stefan Brandt. For collars, cuffs and button bands, all fabric and fusion interlinings are fixed by hand stitch with needle and thread before sewing. In the jersey segment, this application is an innovation and also a guarantee for precise fits. In combination with the unique knitted fabric, the exceptionally soft and symmetrically flowing drape of the fabricis created.

"In-situ" measurements: Despite all quality controls, the seamstresses check the measurements independently during the sewing processes and guarantee the highest fitting accuracy.

Templates: All seams that require exact symmetry are sewn with templates.

Button on a stick: Our (mother-of-pearl) buttons are sewn on by hand "on a stick" and crosswise.

(*) Sewing of the buttons on the back in one point: The sewing of the button in one single - visually hardly noticeable - point is another novelty. The workmanship is of such high quality that the button cannot tear off even under high tensile force (the knitted fabric is more likely to break). A replacement button is therefore not necessary.

The above-mentioned and numerous other ready-made elements, which conventional industries implement with automatic machines, are consistently sewn by hand at Stefan Brandt. Because there is no "shortcut" to excellence.

It is this unique combination of perfect raw materials and clearly recognisable pure craftsmanship that fascinates every connoisseur.

Outlook

The brand Stefan Brandt is undergoing rapid development and renowned brands are begging Stefan Brandt for cooperation.

But the clothing industry as a whole is also in a phase of upheaval. In the future - even in large markets like China - issues such as sustainability and ecology will play primary roles. End consumers want to know what exactly they are wearing, whether the garment is free of any harmful substances, where it comes from, under what circumstances it was produced, how environmentally friendly it is, and whether they can ultimately wear it with a "clear conscience". Stefan Brandt's products provide exactly the right answers to all of these questions.

It is also of historic dimension that Dr. Brandt will start growing its own luxury cotton in Ecuador in 2022. Peruvian ELS Pima cotton currently still comes exclusively from Peru. In fact, the first signs of domestication of this luxury cotton species date back to the early Valdivia phase of coastal Ecuador (4400 BC). Exactly here, at the place of production, this is now being cultivated again for the first time by Dr. Brandt with the support of the Ecuadorian government.
